Something ive noticed from religious people.

Most people that Focus on religion are lost in Life, they are living in hell, usually because they are ugly or have no motivation in Life and they try to find some good cope and that is religion, following something that has no real proof whatsoever ,hoping that after they die, they Will go to Heaven.
No offense to religious people but I think this is a truth.

I know a virgin guy who's my age (33)

He's super religious (but is willing to break the rule about premarital sex; he just has a hard time finding a foid)

When I told him I'm an atheist, he said a life without God sounds empty (that's rich...a 33 year old virgin calling someone else's life empty)

Yes it's a huge cope for a lot of people. But necessary for some. Otherwise they would crash out completely or get depressed which is WORSE than being religious.

I wish I could believe in religion and cope hard. I used to believe in religion in the past for a period of a few years and I felt good because I accepted my suffering and bad place in life.

Same, till last year I was "religious"because I was depressed and my Life was messed Up , and now I know the truth.

This is true and it also goes for social and political movements like MAGA, communism, etc.

There are a bunch of examples from my own life to back this up. But on a much broader scale I’ve noticed that 10-15 years ago, atheism and agnosticism were on the rise. But society started to go downhill and people were shoved into groups and since then, there has been a U turn, now religion is back on the rise. It takes independence, acceptance, open mindedness, and a bunch of other qualities to go through life as atheist or especially agnostic, that’s just too difficult for a lot of people. I understand why it’s happening but it’s just been so alienating to watch my views get pushed aside and the type of shittiness that pushes people to religion and cults take over again, people very close to me included.
