Looking for some of the more high iq individuals here, why is my procrastination so high? Do I have some sort of undiagnosed depression? I'll want to improve in a certain topic, whether its looks, academic related, hobby whatever, know exactly what I need to do and how, yet find my self heavily procrastinating? Is this just a sign of low IQ? @Ghost Philosophy , you seem high iq help me out

Adhd is much more common than you think, because it's an evolutionary adaptation. How do you "treat" adhd? Well, you don't, you just hop on stimulants like vyvanse or adderal.

When I was like 10 they tested me for ADHD and said "I have ADHD traits yet they can't prescribe me medication", no clue what that means or why. Could be worth getting re-tested as procrastination is one of my biggest issues.

Pick one. :FeelsSadDitch:

Uh. Well, if you have (undiagnosed) depression, you would be more disinterested in the things that you used to be interested in. Since you’re talking about procrastination, I think that’s a different issue altogether.

My personal opinion is perhaps you are a confident person in yourself, and you feel like there’s no need to rush things because you’ll get there eventually anyway.

I am also a heavy procrastinator, but in my case, it has nothing to do with confidence. I’m just so lazy. I get too much time off that I just don’t know where to begin or even to begin at all is just difficult for me.

I seem to relate more on the latter, although I am confident in some aspects and do have the "i'll get there eventually" mindset with some topics most of it does come down to being lazy and simply not knowing where to start, starting seems like more effort then the actual task its self so I end up not doing it.

Take vyvanse, even if you don't have ADHD. Especially if you want to do well in school.

appreciate the response, are the sides related to stimulant adhd-meds significant or just fear mongering bullshit? Will do my own research into these regardless

Yeah, there are side effects to everything. Don't abuse stimulants, use them in careful moderation.
I'm not sure on the exact dosages, but vyvanse will keep you locked in on studying for 7-8 hours.

Sounds exactly like me then. Unfortunately, since I’m still struggling with this myself, I can’t really give you any advice. However, I am in university now and they gave us information on various things, including how to tackle procrastination. I can share with you what it says if you want. But it would have to be tomorrow.
