You don't know what they really think of you. They might be planning to kidnap you and are feeling you out for weaknesses. They might be trying to gather information about you to spread lies.
Moreso with strangers I've started to think about this as an idea. Since I started in retail I have encountered the strangest freakiest people and it is making me wonder how many people are secretly like this too. It always comes out in a confrontational situation where they are in a hectic environment and can't steal any products from us because there are too many people in the building.
I had a man come into my work today saying he was going to get abducted by aliens and he sat in the corner of the room gnawing on his fingernails for hours. I was serving people but every now and again I would glance at him and see him looking around and standing up at the window looking into the sky.
It doesn't take much for someone to turn into that I think. I believe most people walk a very fine line between maintaining their sanity and turning into a paranoid schizophrenic. Even the line of thinking that the next person you meet might be the most evil psychopath you ever encounter in your life is sorta paranoid schizophrenic thinking. But it isn't really.
You don't know who anyone really is, even your parents. Your friends might secretly want to kill you and you would never know until its too late. Scary shit.
