Introduction:
In society, cigarettes are demonized however they have a wide range of benefits that I believe make them worth smoking.
1.Brain Function, Mood and Stress
By smoking cigarettes, you are intaking nicotine. Nicotine has a wide range of benefits as it's a psychoactive substance. As it reaches your brain it binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This triggers the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. This then;
• Enhances focus and alertness; nicotine improves attention, concentration and short-term memory making tasks feel easier.
• Mood regulation; the dopamine release can provide a sense of pleasure and reward which temporarily improves mood and emotions.
• Cognitive stimulation; some studies show that nicotine enhances your reaction time, learning efficiency and memory recall all of these benefits being academic aids.
• Stress relief; nicotine often provides a short-term calming effect due to the dopaminergic reward system.
2. Appetite Suppression and Leanmaxxing
Nicotine has long been recognized for its anorectic effects;
• Reduced hunger sensations; as nicotine stimulates hypothalamic pathways that decrease appetite.
• Metabolic increase; nicotine can raise BMR slightly, which could aid in calorie expenditure.
• Nicotine is a powerful vasoconstrictor; this can the skin appear tighter and less swollen overall giving you a more leaned-out appearance.
No wonder all cigarette smokers look like skeletons?
3. Social halo
Cigarettes have a very strong social component in many cultures, whilst being out smoking a cigarette opens doors to many social interactions. They allow you to join in conversation with other smokers and even allow you to be perceived better by some individuals.
CONS:
As with all things, there are negatives. Cigarettes having a couple with some solutions;
• Cancer; the biggest downside, studies show repeated abuse can increase the risk of cancer so don't smoke frequently
• Smell; some people like it some hate it, depends on the person
• Addiction; nicotine is an addictive substance and cigarettes are quite expensive
Although this post is a mild shitpost, the benefits I've talked about here are real so if you wish to enjoy the benefits of nicotine use another method of intaking it.
