Let us know if this results in binge eating for the month or two afterwards, where you weigh even more than before you started fasting.

That's what happened to me. The body freaks out and eventually forces the brain to consume more calories. I went multiple weeks without food, several times, with calorie counting after that, but eventually my will power broke and I weigh more now than before I started.

I honestly don't know. Maybe it works for some people long term.

Personally, I keep weighing myself everyday, and keep trying different methods to try to loose weight and keep it off.

Some things that help me on long fasts:

  • Sleep when I'm very tired, even if it's in the middle of the day. Sleep requires resources that the body takes time to manufacture. Meaning, I won't sleep very many hours at night when I'm fasting. So to make up for that, I sleep whenever my body lets me, often in the middle of the day. Sleep is required for will power, and repair, so If I didn't take naps while fasting, I would get very little sleep at night, and break the fast earlier because of low will power.
  • I use fasting Salts if I'm getting depleted in something, such as getting leg craps is a sign of potassium depletion. However, Fasting Salts trigger hunger in me, which lasts for more than a day, so often that winds up causing me to eat again, killing my fast.
  • I sip apple cider vinegar when hungry. This helps me forget about the hunger.
  • I didn't start fasting multiple weeks. I started small, with a partial day fast, and gradually increased the length of time I was fasting for, so that my body and mind had a chance to adapt to doing longer fasts.
  • Lift weights and exercise, everyday, or most days to reduce muscle loss.
