Stealth aircraft like the B-2, F-22, and F-35 aren't invisible to radar they just have reduced visibility. Low-frequency VHF/UHF radars like the Russian Nebo-M or Chinese JY-27A can detect them but struggle to pinpoint their location due to lower resolution. Generally Higher-frequency X/Ku/Ka bands are used for targeting and guiding anti-air missiles which is where stealth tech excels, making these aircraft harder to lock onto. On radar, a nonstealth aircraft appears as a bright moving dot while stealth aircraft show up as faint flickers with erratic movements that are hard to track

I’ve seen this firsthand in a radar station control room. China is reportedly developing a new radar that could track stealth aircraft by detecting their shadows. Stealth fighters are also most effective head-on from the side or rear, they’re much easier to detect. Does this mean stealth is useless. No it just isn't an invisibility cloak that most people think it is. A stealth aircraft can absolutely be shot down wirh anti air missiles. Stealth is mostly delay tactic to evade detection long enough to strike and hopefully escape

I had to vent after seeing clueless arguments about this on Twitter after those B-2 Bombers dropped their payload in I

The Stealth thing always seemed semi gimmicky to me when the real alpha is probably in drones and hypersonic missiles (which can have impacts on the level of tactical nukes while still technically being legal).

The reason countries are buying f35s is due to the access that you get to the US military satellite infrastructure imo. It would be a pr disaster for American PR if an f35 was shot down like it was for France when those Indian rafales were shot down.

The U.S government somehow has to justify the monumental money they sunk on thr F-35 program. One of the biggest money pits in military history. The U.S. spent over $1.7 trillion on the program only to end up with a jet that cost over $80 million per unit but still wasn't fully reliable and had insane maintenance costs
