It depends what your goals are. If you are NT, you can leverage that as most people in tech are not NT. If you're like, top 5% or higher in actual technical ability/intelligence genetically, you can do pretty well by being less of a high inhib subhuman nerd than other tech guys.
You could probably reach principal engineer at a good company and make big bucks, but that is kinda small time imo.

Unfortunately real innovation is locked off to very intelligent people now, if even that. Gone are the days where a dedicated above average guy could make a real impact, as you mentioned, too many high IQ gooks who have been grinding from day one. Even then, you rarely see lone geniuses anymore and most notable work is done in teams.

Still, there is a place for vision and creativity which is tangentially related to but not 1:1 with IQ.

Yeah, that’s the plan. I’m just gonna grind for internships soon, just as a backup to have more opportunities. My goal of getting exceptional grades in college is a safety cushion, rather than the end all be all of my careermaxxing.
