People always say in here and out in the real world that they know a guy who is ugly but still has a hot girlfriend.. When you're focusing on the exception, you're ignoring the rule. When people say this, there is an easy response. For every ugly guy you know who has a hot girlfriend, I know 20 ugly guys who are unable to get a girlfriend. To show how ridiculous this is, I''ll give you an example. Let's say you know a guy who has won big money when gambling in the casino. Would it be fair to say that everyone should go gambling in the casino because earning money from there is easy? You're ignoring the many other people who have tried gambling in the casino but failed.

Example given is flawed, because sexual selection doesn't work like roulette that is based on pure luck. At some point you have to ask yourself if the winners are doing something right, which of course you're not going to do.

Sexual selection and roulette are not comparable. You can't win unless you play. Our average home rotter doesn't even spin the wheel. He's not in the game and therefore you should ignore him completely. He's not exposed to chance making his expected return 0. He doesn't benefit from the mere-exposure effect, unlike the average looking men who join clubs, have social circles and go out regularly.

Here's a problem I find in PUA critics @SHARK (not advocating for PUA). Choosing clips where fat or otherwise looksminned guys approach and fail as expected isn't honest. For a fair review one should include clips where average, above average and good looking guys approach women.
