Sometimes before heavy workouts i eat a lot of sugar. It helps, but only then. The sugar will be used as fuel during workouts.

Only when I take caffeine i feel a major difference, other than that you might be right.I just sleep and go there clear minded. I've never found any difference between if I do or don't take sugar or XYZ supplement. It's all in the head.
I think there probably is some difference but you're talking 1 to 5% total max. You'd probably get more from consistent sleep. Supplements are mostly a scam.
