What is Sun Gaze Maxxing?

Sun Gaze Maxxing is where you stare near or directly into the sun for about 1-2 minutes each day, Which people believe it can cause your eye area to be sharper since it trains the muscles to squint more permanently, and some even think that it can strip melanin from your eyes with the use of correct products.

What really works when you sun gaze?

I have been sun gazing for about 2 weeks, and I have noticed my eyes stay slightly sharper with less UEE for long periods of time. Doing this over time= constant eye posture, which leads to more permanent squinting. Now for people who say it can strip melanin from your eyes (change eye color), are not entirely wrong. While it for sure won't change your eye color 100%, it can actually make them appear brighter (like say you have brown or black eyes, they may appear more green-ish). Although you may need to use certain products to make these effect more visible and permanent.

What products can I use to prevent eye damage (temp blind or blurry vision, eye pain, etc)? And what products for coloring?

Personally my eyes have experienced no "damage" or pain at all except for slight blurry eyes due to water buildup. But some peoples eyes may be weaker to the sun and may experience more issues, so its important to use certain things to minimize these effects / prevent them. Here is a list of products for eye protection.

  • Vitamin C (you can get some sort of powder you put into water or just consume fruits high in vitamin C).
  • Honey eye drops ( keeps water in your eyes and also may help with coloring).
There is for sure more things that may help but these are the main things I use. Regular eyedrops can help too, people just like honey ones because they may help with eye coloring.

What products should I not use / What may cause irritation?

There is probably quite a few things you should not use while sun gazing, as they may worsen your eyes or cause irritation / dryness. List below of some commons ones I know:

  • Retinoids (Retinol, Vitamin A)
  • Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs like glycolic or lactic acid)
  • Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs like salicylic acid)
  • Benzoyl Peroxide
  • Hydroquinone
  • Certain essential oils, especially citrus-based ones (lemon, lime, bergamot)
  • Lumify eye drops

Most of these are skin care, I listed them because if you put them near your eyes It could cause irritation and pain.

I do it for at least 5 minutes straight, but the sun is relatively weak here

I have actually been doing this for a bit over a year, and have seen insane progress. I would stare into the sun for about 5-10 minutes daily. My eye color is somewhat lighter but the main difference is my eye area is more naturally squinted. The only minor side effect I experienced is the permanent blindness in the center of my vision, due to retina damage. But its fine because I can just use my peripheral vision to handle daily activities, and since I can't focus on anything straight in front of me I ask my grandma to read my .org threads out loud and type my responses and she gets to leave her signature.

Cool thread but staring into the sun of south USA where the UV is consistently 9+ in the summer might toast my retinas
