Switching To Linux

I've been considering switching to Linux for about a year now. I'm mainly into gaming and I also do some programming on the side. I've already stripped all the bloatware from Windows, but it still runs like shit with pretty good SPECS. I'm just trying to figure out if making the switch to Linux would actually be worth it — what are the pros and cons? And which distro would be the best fit for me?

ubuntu, everything just werks.

u can game just install drivers and proton.
