I recently got my Curology order and I got a cream that contains Tretinoin 0.005%, Azelaic Acid 2% and Niacinamide 4%. I've been applying it nightly as recommended on the label for the past 4 days and I've noticed that my skin gets SEVERELY dry the day after using it, constantly and that there are "white peels" on my skin which is strange because there isn't much Tretinoin in this cream to begin with:hnghn:

I notice that this happens even if I use my Aveeno moisturizier constantly:hnghn:

I got those white peels too when starting 0.05% tret, after being on 0.1% for 2 weeks, I still get them but it isn't as bad

Haven't tried out this brand, but after starting tret I just couldn't use cerave anymore cause it wasn't thick enough. I switched to Vanicream(the pump version) and my skin has been doing much better, much less peeling. Weleda skin food is also a pretty good moisturizer to use with tret. Also consider using an occlusive (like vaseline) over your moisturizer, especially on tret nights

the weird thing is I was taking tret at 0.05 and 0.10 for like a month prior to this and yes there were peels at the start but I maintained my skin quality and prevented that with regular moisturizer but this cream with extremely low amounts of tret at 0.005 is causing peeling to happen for some reason:hnghn:

Wow interesting products, thank you for mentioning them. I've got a bit of a budget so I'll just get vaseline for now thanks bhai:feelsokman:

In case the peels are because of tret (prob aren't cause as u said it's an extremly small conc), then you prob shouldn't use vaseline as a moisturizer, since it is meant to be an occlusive, meaning it will trap whatever is on the skin but it won't moisturize it. Using vaseline directly after tret will make the tret work harder on ur skin and u might get more irritation. Using vaseline over moisturizer however increases that moisturizer's effectiveness.

bhai do you think if I apply vaseline after applying the cream, the tret and the other agents will be more effective on my skin:unsure:

that's not such a bad idea:oops:

But yes I will see

you're not supposed to start using it nightly at first, don't be retarded. of course it's irritating. you need to work up your tolerance.
Used tret for like 1 and a half months prior to this jfl I'm used to it and the doctor literally told me to apply it daily on the label cuz its such a low dose:feelsuhh:

I'm not sure if it will be more effective perse. I usually wait around 20 min after applying tret to apply moisturizer, think that's a method to improve effectiveness of tret since ur giving it more time to sink into the skin

It will however keep ur skin extra moisturized, prevents it from peeling, drying out, and helps to protect ur skin moisture barrier

Bhai that tret is useless get a pharma 0.1% one. Btw I use tret 0.1 azelaic 20% and niacinamide everyday. But because I use squalene oil I never peel. My suggestion for dryness: get squalane oil from Amazon

if ur doing squalane before tret though, while yes, that will help prevent dryness, ur reducing the effectiveness of tret as its a buffer

What order do you apply it?

isn't the topical absorption rate of isotretinoin extremely poor?
