all of these people have strong masseter muscles

they don't have extremely outward gonions (almost no one does) chewing theory is legit assuming you have low set masseters and even I have a more tapered jaw when I flex my masseters

They do. Wide jaw = outward gonions. No way around that.

The "taper" you are talking about is due to sharp gonions.

Mandible on the left is what I mean. Creates a drop-down angularity effect from the front. Big masseters just make this effect more visible. Without the gonial angularity, big masseters won't do anything.
