Relatable character, good story, great cinematography. 9/10. Go watch it.
Idk where to begin so I’ll start with the protagonist, Travis Bickle. He’s almost too reserved, you almost want to scream at him, telling him to answer and actually talk to the people who are trying to communicate with him. I do think his character is still very much relatable, and I think this is true more so today than it would be back when it was first released.

I heard him being described by a reviewer as a ‘ticking time bomb, ready to explode at any time’ even after his extreme action, but aren’t we all ticking time bombs ourselves? We’ll surely have an outburst, perhaps not as severe as his. It’s like that meme

The most dangerous thing about him is that I felt ‘inspired’ after watching, and I found myself fully rooting for him at all times.

The movie itself is paced pretty well imo, and none of it felt boring tbh, the protagonist’s monologues did not felt boring or too long to me at all. Lots of beautifully shot scenes, great cinematography. Also no unsatisfactory ending or whatever other bs some movies pulls off. I do think Travis actually improved from what he usually was, we saw him socializing more, he seemed happier and he seemed to
let go of Betsy. Personally I’d love to see hin actually meet his parents at the end, but maybe it’s better this way.

I relate to Travis a lot (not only bcuz of his condition and such) bcuz I personally live in a city where if you go out at night, you’ll see all the animals he described, along with all the degeneracy that goes on.

Almost 2 hrs of an ex-marine who served in Nam, who happened to have insomnia, a disorder which seems to be common among the protagonists of many good movies. Just go watch it, it’s pretty good. :DankPepe:

Good read, just like the movie.:Comfy:
@richoxne

Do you plan on doing the same with Joaquin's Joker?
I think he’s closer to the blackpill guys:peepoSadLeave:

read every single bit, i watched taxi driver when i was like 11 so i don't really remember anything from it and was probably too young and stupid to understand it :feelskek: this honestly inspired me to rewatch it in my free time. Mirin the effort btw :peepoLove:

You’re not supposed to be rooting for travis. He lives in a narcy fantasy world. He only “improves” at the end because the media turns him into a hero and lets him believe his own bullshit. That’s why he doesn’t see his own reflection at the end. He’s escaped the real Travis and lives totally in fantasy now.
