Found a really interesting video on a performance artist called Tehching (Sam) Hshieh, who takes performance art to the extreme. Great watch
This guy is, and was, a total fucking kook, but I can't help appreciating his dedication to art.

- 'The Cage Piece' 1978 - 1979:
Hsieh locked himself inside a small cage and stayed there for a full year, vowing to never speak, read, or write during his year stay. He had a friend bring supplies whenever needed, but they didn't interact during these visits.
- 'The Time Clock Piece' 1980 - 1981:
For this piece, Hsieh punched a timecard in every hour, for an entire year, taking a photo of himself each time he clocked in. He had compiled a total of 8760 photos during this period. Sleep was pretty much nonexistent
- 'The Outdoor Piece' 1981 - 1982:
For Hshieh's outdoor piece, he vowed to stay homeless in New York for an entire year (Including the cold NY winters), prohibiting himself from entering all buildings, tents, transportation.
- 'The Rope Piece' 1983 - 1984:
In 'The Rope Piece', Hsieh and a fellow performance artist had tied each other to a rope, agreeing to stay like that for a year. They vowed to not touch each other during the piece, and to never leave a room without the other.
- 'No Art Piece' 1985 - 1986:
In his final year-long art piece, Hshieh vowed to not create, engage, or talk about any art during this period.
'13 Year Piece' 1986 - 1999:
In his final piece(s), Hshieh wanted to make art for the rest of the century, however in this "piece", he vowed to keep all of the art produced hidden from the public for the rest of his life. To this day, he hasn't made any art for the public and lives a life in private.
