The reason it was successful is because it promised privacy

So it's different from a company like this one for example when it comes to text because we have moderators here and they can see everything we write and therefore can moderate and get rid of anything illegal

Telegram on the other hand, one of the reasons it's successful is it at least says it promotes privacy and encryption

So if they have no control over it, why is he arrested? Not only does he not have control, those are supposed to be encrypted he can't even view them.

This is one point no one is bringing up, this is what makes telegram different from other comms platforms like youtube, discord, etc. and the reason why I don't think he should've been arrested, if it's true he truly had no access to the telegram channels illegal activities were being discussed on.

You're wrong he does have control over it. Telegram have the decryption keys to everything apart from secret chats.

So bad Telegram groups are not end to end encrypted
Now you can even have an account without phone number

Yes some groups have bots that recognize illegal content also and deletes it

can they access the links you send?

what made you reach that conclusion?
