What person is spending 80% of their yearly salary on a car.
BYD msrp starts at 9000 and it's a better car.
I doubt Indians even finance stuff that's almost strictly an American thing.
Low time preference is part of most non western cultures

Indians do that bro. 80% of cars in India are financed. A person earning 4k per year is buying 10-12k usd car. 😂 Indians Especially from Millennial generation is no different than average American in spending habits.

Pretty sure most of them ride motorcycles, in like an entire household.
30k shiny new car to ride on crowded streets with no traffic rules like what? Not to mention people bumping and scratching your car all the time.
This is the capital city btw

Most developed city in India and it has like 0 urban planning just makes no sense to market Tesla in India tbh

Tesla is technically priced as a regular economy car
Waste of marketing resources tbh

It's Insane how Indians pay 2x the amount. Only country with more tax on Cars is Singapore and it makes sense cuz it's literally an Island

I see it as more of an upper class tech enthusiast car. Most Americans still be driving around in their 15 year old F 150s

The car wasn’t meant for the population’s 50th percentile earning street vendor.

These flashy flexes are meant for the top 1% which is 15million people btw. India is the world’s 3rd largest luxury car market.

You buy these cars mostly to show off anyway. Infian practical cars are cheap supply line cars with high ground clearance shit compression ratios and lot of torque that have engines closer to trucks than cars. Low sitting supercars are made for german autobahn not Mumbai streets

Fun fact. You could literally buy both the GLS Maybach and the Range Rover in the US at the price of ONE Range Rover in India. :feelskek:

Not to mention earning 400k in the US can be done at ease with some consistency but earning the equivalent amount of money in India is one hell of job most of the population would never ever reach.
