I think his name was Lorne, but not sure. I think it was 5th grade, could have been 4th grade or 6th grade. I knew him in the sense that I knew every male in my grade school class of 30. Wasn't close with him, or ever been over his house, but was on friendly terms with him. He was not bullied, or exceptional in any way. One day he just didn't show up for class, and somehow everyone learned he hung himself. I don't think it was officially announced or anything, it was just word of mouth, but it was in the local newspaper, so it definitely happened. At the time I think I knew what hanging yourself meant, but had no idea how one would actually hang themselves. Frankly didn't give much thought to it beyond that, life went on like he never existed.
Looking back on it now, it seems more likely someone else (probably a relative) killed him and made it look like a suicide. I mean how does a 9 year old hang themselves?
