early 2000's and late 90's there was still some internet and nerd culture (extremely on the down low normies were not apart of it) but none of the bad effects with social media. Cell phones that existed were only good for calls. This seems like the best compromise you can still call your friends and get fast communication but you aren't getting 24/7 social media updates or emails.

Past 2010 the internet has become more of a detriment then a help its not even cool anymore forums like looksmax are diamond in the dust but places like this used to be everywhere. Now its all generic bull crap. Flip phone era was ideal

The only problem with this era i that it would come to an end I sometimes wonder if millennials are better off or worse? They had normie childhoods and cool subcultures but they also lived long enough to see the entire world go crazy. Vs zoomers like me grew up in the insanity ever since 9 I was used to the insanity of the modern world so it doesn't seem as bad

I would say boomers too but I think 90's childhood mogs. But boomers adulthood mogs its kinda sad the difference between zoomers and millennials is by 18 most zoomers already are stoic or nihilistic about things when you ask people about the future they have only bad or sarcastic things to say.

Millennials and to lesser extent Gen X had bright expectations for the future most of which did not come true. So in the long run it may have been sadder because they had real hope.

Best time to be alive is in the future when it’s possible to manipulate genetics and every human will be able to look good and only personality and other shit matters

For me I think being a teenager in 2007 to 2012 was the best thing that could have ever happened to a teenager. Rise of the internet, Enjoying Rise of EDM, Chatting through keypad phone(not completely addicted to it), Sharing movies, music and games with friends through disc, Getting more time to hangout with friends without any disturbance, Going to EDM festival together and enjoying it without phones in the air recording, Late night "Battlecam" stream (the early twitch) , Trip with friends to beautiful places. JUST LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST

I really don't think that will be as cool as people think it is.

It will probably be used mainly by the rich or to make large scale adjustments to human populations. Imagine if they could edit out the genes for disagreeableness making everyone high agreeable and high inhib. That is the most likely use of gene editing human beings might just end up weird zoo animals for the pleasure of a few people

Yeah the early internet was much cooler I'm a zoomer but even I remember the internet before 2014 I was pretty young being more open source.

You could go on youtube and find Alex Jones videos there were a bunch of cool forums to talk to people nowadays it feels so small and corporate. It was better when it was enjoyed by niche gamers and tech guys the internet and reality used to be two separate realities but now they are interchangeable with social media

You're spot on. The internet, and the way search engines worked, was so much cooler. Anything you could think of you could just type in and find it.

Early 2000's internet was awesome. The internet then was a much bigger place than it is now, if that makes any sense.

Yeah it does... It would be like a small town with 100 little businesses vs a bigger town with only Mcdonalds Walmart and Tacobell.

I was born in the early 2000's sadly but still in real time I have seen it decline even more. My hope is the metaverse is a rejuvenation of the old cyber punk ideals VR Chat is pretty cool and interactive

I fee like the 2000s was the last good decade.
Things then started gradually turning into shit during the 2010s.

Yes and no, I am from that era, the era of the millenials, and we seem to be the most mentally ill

It seems Gen X grew up with an even more normal society and culture, and Zoomers have known nothing but the internet, and, being young, adapted like water

Yeah 2008 is where Millennials were fucked. 2007 the iphone came out and they were giving crazy projections the future looked unbeatable then 2008 happened crushing a million dreams in a year.

Its hard to say completely where things went wrong I would say somewhere between 2008-2012 things went to shit.

If it had to be one specific thing it would be smartphones.
It lead to crazy social media, tinder, people being addicted to it and not doing stuff IRL.

Suifuel. My parents met in 1991 yet I was born much later, in 1998, so I was destined to grow up in a society with fucked up social dynamics :feelsbadman:

I think millennials are so fucked up because they were sold such a big lie. The biggest difference between Zoomers and millennials is that most Zoomers by 18 who are smart understand things are fucked.

If you ask most zoomers what they think the future will be like they will respond negatively or sarcastically millennials had actual hopes and the future was bright so in some ways they are worse off. They grew up in the dying light of the world inherited by boomers but got to see none of the fruits they promised.

Its very tragic and at least as a zoomer I understood this since I was 14 so I had no hope to be kiled

The bluetooth file transfer phone era was ideal
Facebook and iphone ruined everything coz normies started using the internet

Its multiple things though but yeah cellphones really sucked.

This clip is still true 10 years later. Cellphones are made for easy dopamine activities everything worthwhile that can be done on a cellphone can be done better on a computer only good thing is texting calling and being able to look things up on the spot.

If I use my laptop I still waste time but its much easier to do productive things whereas on my iphone I will just watch nonsense for hours

2008-2010 was peak emo girl pussy season and all of you missed it.

VR Chat has a lot of niches and creativity that doesn't exist elsewhere. Discord is alright too

It all went to shit when Facebook came out

Before that everyone used to just speak on MSN and girls were willing to give subhumans a chance

The real nail in the coffin was the rise of instagram from 2015 onwards. And now with tik tok and a million dating apps in the mix? It's over

Yeah Totally agree. 90S was fucking blast... ALL the cartoons, Music, Videogames and shit internet... Def not fucking biased nostalgia pandering. Life was so much better with shit internet. Everything was so new and exiting. technology was developing too fast which brought in this dark incel era.

I didn't use my first forum until 2012
I probably stumbled upon a few in the years prior but didn't understand how they worked nor have much interest in figuring out, oh to be semi NT with a social circle again

I dunno. I think people forgot how shitty technology was back then and all the inconveniences that came with it. Granted I never really had a social life in the first place but honestly, I'm more comfortable now than I was back then.
