Here’s a thought: it’s almost impossible to not be addicted to something. I’ve been working on quitting porn, and the more I try, the more I realize I’m just replacing one addiction with another. Drinking more, doomscrolling on TikTok, gambling on shitcoins, you name it. Every time I try to give one thing up, I find something else to fill the void.
Why does this happen? Simple. Our brains are hardwired to crave stimulation, to feel something. The problem is, when we cut one source of gratification, the brain doesn’t just go quiet. It needs a replacement, something to keep us distracted. And it doesn’t always pick healthy options. That’s how we end up caught in cycles, bouncing from one addiction to the next, without ever really addressing the root cause.
It’s not just about removing the bad habits, it’s about figuring out how to get our brains to stop needing that constant buzz. Until then, it feels like we’re just jumping from one crutch to another. Anyone else here notice the same pattern? It’s frustrating, but I’m starting to think breaking this cycle takes more than just quitting.
