Always see people talk about AIs as a group and rarely see anyone talking about the differences between them. If this has already been addressed, that’s on me because I’ve never seen it. If you don’t already know, an aromatase inhibitor is a drug that attaches to the enzyme aromatase, which is what allows many AAS and PRIMARILY testosterone to convert to estrogen. One thing that can be of concern to people is impaired local function, especially in the brain. Risks appear when taking an AI (even if blood levels stay at 10-15 pg/mL) in local areas like the hippocampus and vital areas of the brain. Growth plates usually aren’t a concern because the point is to try to inhibit the aromatase in the growth plates to prevent closure. The reason why anastrozole is the best AI is because it’s a substrate for P-glycoprotein. Turns out this protein is also a transport protein used by the brain to push out unwanted materials, which causes anastrozole to have very limited function on the BBB. Thus, it is very likely the best AI that exists as letrozole and aromasin easily bypass that and pierce the BBB.
