this my first post here so i’ll make it short and sweet, i’ll walk you mfs thru what products i use and how i use them and describe it as best i can
THA MOST IMPORTANT STEP IS TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR HAIR !!
i have 3B hair, this means that my hair is coily - and extremely thick.
as mentioned :
i mostly have genetics to thank for this, but before i figured out my routine i hair course, afro- like hair , extremely dry and with split ends.
- ROUTINE
i start my routine wit a shower, this is where half the work is,
1- WET YOUR HAIR FULLY
make sure your hair is completely wet
2- RUN YOUR FINGERS THROUGH YOUR HAIR
you read it, do exactly that. DONT USE ANY TYPE OF COMBS OR WIDE TOOTH WHATEVER TF U ALREADY BE USING !!
combs fuck up the natural “tanglement” of your curly hair, and mix everything up and cause your hair to be flat.
take your 4 fingers on each hand, put em out wolverine style, slightly bend down so your hair is falling downwards and go through ur scalp with your fingers, don’t be too rough, if you see that you have too many tangles and that your fingers forreal can’t go thru ur hair even with them fully wet, take the L and comb through ur hair under the shower head and do what i said again.
-CONDITIONNER
after making sure ur hair is fully separated and untangled, start off with a generous amount of conditioner. i use rather a lot, i got a shit ton of hair.
THESE ARE MY TWO FAVORITE CONDITIONNERS TO USE, BOTH HAVE GOTTEN ME COMPLIMENTS FROM GIRLS FROM HOW GOOD THEY SMELL
- SHEA MOISTURE MANUKA HONEY AND YOGURT CONDITIONNER
- HONEY TREASURES CONDITIONNER
make sure to use a generous amount, get it all over your hair, then go under the water for half a second, run ur fingers thru your hair and if you see the conditioner hasn’t evenly coated your hair, add some more.
leave it on there for 3-4 mins and rinse off thoroughly
-LEAVE IN CONDITIONNER
after getting done with your shower, take a cotton t shirt and run it from ur face to the back of the head and make sure to get the excess water out, don’t be rough with your hair cuz its as fragile as glass when its wet.
then take your manuka honey yogurt shea moisture leave in- :
open the cap, the spray isn’t enough for this liquid gold , take a fair amount and make sure you coat all of your hair wit it
after that’s done, we move to the next step :
COILING YOUR HAIR (training your curls)
the only way to achieve perfect coils is to make sure your hair is evenly cut, evenly stacked , so that the hair in your temple doesn’t mix with the hair at your hairline (for example) n messes up your coil pattern.
i personally tell my barber to stack my curls , and he understands, if yours doesn’t, change to a more expensive/ experienced barber (around 40-45$ a cut) i think that your hair is a great investment to make and if you don’t think so this thread isn’t for you.
after coating your hair, split your hair in half down the middle, and hold one side with a rubber band or a hair tie so it doesn’t get in the way (my hair is down to my neck if yours isn’t this isn’t necessary)
after this, hold the other half of your hair with your non dominant hand, take your dominant one and start evenly coiling your hair (medium - large coils, stick with me)
make sure you coil them along your whole finger, making sure there’s no loose strands and that the coils look even and nice.
when your whole head is coiled in large- medium coils, evenly symmetrical , u gotta do what the monks do.
i personally don’t like large coils, they look messy, if you do, stop here and let your hair dry.
After working my ass off coiling my hair, i take my 3 fingers on each hand and lightly run them though the curls, don’t run through them too much , maybe one small stroke (no diddy) or two on each side of your head to create volume.
keep in mind these last two steps take time and patience, the first week will be ass, as you make it a habit you see how worth it -it is.
DRYING YOUR HAIR
we already established ur hair is as fragile as glass when it’s wet, and using heat to dry it ruins them, i personally let them air dry- which is painstaking and long , but they’re worth the clean curls.
if you really have to heat-dry, use a diffuser and keep it a few inches away from your hair.
COMPARISON
keep in mind not all hair is the same, i figured this shi out by trying and trying , there’s been time i’ve been frustrated, but don’t buzz ur hair
learn what products work for you, tweak the routine as much as you have to and see which results work best for you
here’s my hair when i first started learning this method vs my hair now
alright bro enjoy
