Let’s end this debate.

Method 1: Buy a 50mm focal length camera. Place it 5-6 feet away. (Most accurate for me)

Even though the human eye sees in 17-24mm focal length, the brain zooms in to a certain object, making it match the size of a 50mm camera’s picture.

You will need someone else to help you take the picture if your camera doesn’t have an automatic feature. Just tell them you are taking a casual pic to sound NT.

1. Let them place your camera at eye level.
2. Ensure the camera is straight.
3. Stand 5-6 feet (153-183 centimeters) away, facing the camera.
4. Align your eyes with the camera lens.

Note: A photo 5-6 feet away is how people that are 5-6 feet away from you see you. If you’re closer than that, 3 feet away from the picture for example, it won’t match how people that are 3 feet away from you see you. Unfortunately it’s a lot more complicated than that since we live in a 3d world and angels are deceiving.

Method 2: Take a photo from your back camera 3feet away from the mirror then invert it.

I don’t really recommend this method since mirrors vary. Some mirrors might make your face wider, others will make your face narrow.

1. Position yourself three feet away from a mirror.

2. Hold your phone upright next to your head, ensuring the camera is at the same level as your eyes (avoid taking mirror selfies with the phone positioned below your chin as many tend to do).

3. Gaze directly into the mirror, keeping your face aligned vertically, parallel to the phone beside your head (you might need to slightly turn your head toward the phone to ensure your face is captured at a neutral angle in the photo).

4. Snap the photo.

5. VERY IMPORTANT: zoom into your face on the photo, capture a screenshot, and then reverse the screenshot image horizontally to correct mirror image distortion (since the mirror reflection reverses the original image, you need to counteract that effect).

Method 3: Take a photo from your back camera, 6-8 feet away from your face.

Lens distortion affects selfies because they're usually taken too close, at arm's length. For accurate ratings or looksmaxxing advice, photos should be taken from at least 6 feet away. Here's a quick guide:

1. Place your phone at eye level on a stable surface.
2. Ensure the phone is straight.
3. Use the back camera.
4. Set a 10-second timer.
5. Stand 6-8 feet (2 meters) away, facing the camera.
6. Align your eyes with the camera lens.

One thing about rate me on threads, they always take the photos way to close wich doesn't show their true features, i for example look subhuman in photos that they are to close, but there is a class picture in high school where it showed my true fwhr and i mogged hard in that.

Tdlr, many rating on this forum aren't accurate because of lens distortion wich leads to depression.

Most high school pictures are taken with professional 50mm camera. A high school pictures Is the best method to know your FWHR since you can compare yourself to your classmates.

Pick a person with an ideal FWHR (To your eyes) - Measure it - compare yourself to him.

Yeah basically that pic was with the whole class, i had the widest fwhr, the point is that the better and the further the picture is taken, the more to your true looks is shown.

lens distortion is not a thing just walk away from the lens, the lens does not distort but its the distance that does, unless it's fish eye but its a whole other story, just change the distance, ask someone to take ur photo

You can make it a bit better with phone camera if you zoom in slightly before taking the picture, I find this the most convenient
