The downplayed Dangers of Oral Minoxidil

I'm happy to share with you the latest video from the Channel "Haircafe". This provides invaluable information on the serious side effects of Oral Minoxidil and why you should have second thoughts about taking it:



The two most important points in summary:

1. Low dose oral minoxidil comes with the same possibility of severe side effects as high dose oral minoxidil (pericardial effusion and Myocardial ischemia)
2. Low dose oral minoxidil (2.5mg/day) has NOT been shown to yield better results than topical minoxidil. In fact 5mg+ are necessary for that effect to take place.

All things considered, oral minoxidil can lead to more abrupt and severe side effects than Finasteride, which insterestingly is being fearmongered much more about.

Before taking oral minoxidil you should get your heart checked for any underlying conditions since it could lead to DEATH.

Fun fact: Oral minoxidil is barely used these days to treat hypertension and comes with a black box warning. That's because of its severe side effects and more suitable medication being available to treat hypertension.
And yet some clueless derms prescribe it as if it was topical diclofenac.
