If you're a victim of offtopic threading then you most likely are aware that there's been a lot of back-and-forth accusations about GTC members supposedly “repfarming” each other. Let’s break this down logically… (@inversions made a thread against GTC so wanted to make a thread for GTC for shits and giggles, think of this thread as nothing but a shitpost

For starters @FramePillGymMaxx has received a 60% one day ban and rumor has it that @AressGymMaxx is also expected to review a one day ban.
Although GTC's entire point is to bring others together, especially greys to help guide, grow, and give them an idea of the community.
The question is, why does GTC rep so much?
Rep=respect so it isn't a surprise that friends rep others. If someone from GTC posts a funny comment and earns rep, that’s merit, not manipulation nor “farming”, it’s just engagement.

- Reputation isn’t proof of corruption. People naturally rep others who contribute useful, funny, or solid posts. If their posts are valuable, they deserve recognition. If they’re not, they’ll fade out naturally, think gigacummaster.
- Repfarming implies coordination, not coincidence. To call it farming, you’d need proof that people are systematically trading rep just to inflate scores. Seeing people repping each other isn’t “farming,” it’s just normal community behavior.
- The rep system exists to reward contribution. Not police social groups whenever they rep. If we start punishing people for interacting with certain users, we defeat the entire point of a reputation system. You either want good posts to be recognized, or you don’t so it would be quite absurd to not socialize in this forum to gain the attention of others.
- Ironically, the loudest complainers prove the opposite point. If the rep system were truly broken, rep would be meaningless when everyone at the top farms. Yet people still get heated about it indicating they do see it as a reflection of credibility. So clearly, it still works (this point isn’t strong yet I still wanted to talk about it).
At the end of the day, the “repfarm” narrative is just cope for those who don’t get repped often. Instead of wasting time speculating about who repped who, focus on improving your posts, your analysis, and your value here. The system rewards contribution, not complaints.
My hypothesis: If you think it’s a real issue and you are a antagonist of GTC and its members, push for transparency. Instead of arguing, suggest a fair solution. Whether that is a debate format megathread or a community poll. I’ve also heard others telling GTC members to come at greys with a “different approach” which is quite foolish.
Let’s put this rep politics to an end, everyone benefits when we move past it.
