The most attractive looks are often those that appear effortless.

High-effort = low attractiveness
because it signals insecurity - shows that you try hard to look like someone who can do it effortless.

Low-effort = high attractiveness
because its associated with naturalness and confidence.

That is paradoxical. The more you make it look like you didn’t try, the more attractive you are, but the less effort you actually put in, the worse you'll actually look.

That paradox is central to attractiveness everywhere around the globe. Women show that they find the "effortless" look way more attractive than a high effort one

Observations:

- Throughout studies women have shown that they find a light stubble the most attractive, over "over groomed" or completely shaved facial hair. Yet to pull of that light stubble and not look like a patchy homeless guy it actually requires quite a lot of upkeep.

- Messy hair is currently the trend among males for a reason - it signals effortlessness despite most modern people needing hairstyling products and a good haircut to make it actually good looking. Where-as something like slicked back hair, signals high effort and is seen as "doing too much"

1757178658483
1757178754626

- casual but well styled clothing is usually seen as more attractive and effortless than something like a fullsuit or a "fashion guy" outfit.
this has been especially pushed in the recent times, where a full suit is seen as doing way too much and a simple unbuttoned tee as hot.

1757179037574

- subtly tan skin is seen more attractive than pale because it signals effortlessness, vitality, and higher testosterone exposure through simple lifestyle. It's also possible to be seen as richer as its connected to something like yachts :ROFLMAO:

and yet, staying healthy and perfectly tanned is something that is not at all effortless.

The illusion of effortless attractiveness acts as a social signal: those who appear naturally polished are perceived as confident, competent, and high-status, giving them advantages in the modern social setting.

yet the only way to appear effortless - is to put in an unreasonable amount of effort, or be genetically gifted.

it is a paradoxical illusion.

I was expecting something else
I thought you were going to talk about roiders who think being muscular equals being good looking
Or people who think lean = better cus they get hollow cheeks
Those are try harders / looksmaxxers
People who dress up are in this list too yea
They are all coping, women know if you're a try hard

Mirin the thread larry, this goes hand in hand with the first rule of looksmaxxing

(Dont tell anybody you looksmax)

If you tell a women that you looksmax you will instantly drop in value to her.

Everyone gangster until the girlfriend they finally got after a lot of effort and looksmaxing asks them to show her pictures of them as a baby / from kindergarten / from elementary school, with the reason "to see how beautiful you were as a child, to see if her children will be beautiful when they are little as well"

You can add it, specially those roider copers who think size > height. Getting muscles don't affect how your face looks at all.
