The main problem with surgeries in general is nerve damage

I've noticed that the botched/uncanny look comes partly from damaged nerves, lack of expression, etc etc
During invasive surgeries your nerves will be damaged, sometimes they'll take years to recover and sometimes they'll never be the same as before
