The main reason why modern society is insufferable

We feel useless

In modern society you don't play a bigger role in anything
They want us to feel useless and replaceable

Back when we were hunter gatherers and lived in tribes we were useful. We had a goal to strive for and that was providing food for the people you care for.
We felt appreciated.

That's long gone now
People feel isolated and useless with no bigger goal or purpose

Modern technology has destroyed everything

This is why I want to start a family
I would provide for them and it would give me a bigger purpose.
I would sleep good knowing my kids are comfortable because of my efforts

I don't think its really that insufferable tbh, i don't care about playing a big role in society or changing things, adding value to this world is not my job and it isn't the job of anyone else either, we never signed for it, but if you want to take that as a purpose for your life then you have it easy, there's more free knowledge and tools out there than anytime else in the history of humanity.

People tend to forget that quality of life is an irrelevant factor when it comes to our biological purpose, but even that becomes stupid when taking into account that the world is going to end one day and we will cease to exist no matter what we do, and emotions like love or pride aren't metaphysical so i really couldn't care less about them.

I mean, it's harder in different ways, but I wouldn't say insufferable. You can be much more comfortable now than you could in the past. But a big part of that "not feeling like you have a bigger role", is partly due to the downfall of community and relationships. In the past. You had a clear purpose and pretty quickly when you hit adulthood. Having kids and caring for your family.

Now, the family unit is broken the majority of the time, and it's hard to see with everything being on such a large scale. Tech made it, so everything is zoomed out, and it is hard to see each other as people. Let alone see your own purpose in the world, nevertheless the universe.
