I've constantly had to re-evalate the meaning to my life. It's all very important.
In the past it was God. I've read the bible numerous times. I've also read the Quran and a lot of old books. I also have read a lot of philosophical literature including Nietzche.
You would probably define me as an atheist. I wouldn't want to be an atheist, although I'm quite absolutely sure there is no God, this isn't a good thing.
The world is full of suffering and evil. Anyone who doesn't know this is a lucky individual, but will soon be met with suffering and death one day. This isn't a good thing either, I'm not cheering about it.
I do know though, that I've let myself become an angry, resentful, jealous individual in the past. That's quite literally why I called myself "Jacob Hate". What I've learned from being an angry individual is that: it's not good for you. Anger and sadness are closely related. Jealousy and self destruction are also closely related.
What should a man do then? I think a lot of the world religions come to a similar conclusion and I think people really find their identity in religion because it's a good approach. The figure of Christ for example has a lot of wisdom as far as I can tell. To take all the pain of the world onto yourself, choose to overcome it and triumph over it, and not feed MORE evil into the already evil world, but rather try and fix it and make it a better place, surely is good for the individual himself not just the world.
What I mean is, it's probably good for YOU to overcome problems and not be angry about your circumstances and choose to carry on and treat others with kindness.
This is just the typical "male role" that we all as men have to play. Calm under pressure, "bearing your cross" as the Bible would say (enduring suffering willfully), kind to others, helping those in need, grateful for what you do have, disciplined as an individual, but also extremely dangerous, the ability to hurt your enemies really bad, the ability to defend your family and friends, a "monster in a suit" as I would say, a "gentleman warrior" is probably what I would consider ideal.
As a man you are a tool to the world and viewing yourself as such is probably good for your own mental health as well. Because instead of being a random fucking failed genetic experiment, you're a necessary component to make the world a better place.
I can't be the only one that feels pain, and a desire for meaning, and sees all the evil of the world, and gets angry and sad, and then wants to make it better. I know I'm not the only one.
