When I am in public and feeling hungry, being a white male I can eat a banana indiscreetly without any concern for people who witness it having a joke about me looking like a monkey triggered internally.
I suspect some ethnics wouldn't feel comfortable eating a banana in public, I have never seen an ethnic eating a banana in public before.
