I've had both (light hair naturally, able to pull off black with it looking natural) and there's some positive aspects to both but overall in dating you get more dates with quality women with light hair, dark hair gets you more matches and ioi's, but they don't lead to dates.

I think hair dye is cope now. Maybe black dye looks more natural but in my experience brown dye always has a weird reddish tint in bright light, it can never look natural.
