“I swear I eat <1000 cals daily and go on runs but I still don't have hollow cheeks. Maybe I just have thick skin or I’m bloated.”

When you dumb it down those calories that those people are consuming are filled with carbs(more of junk carbs) when the reality is you need to diet properly.

Carb Cycling
Carb cycling(this method is used a lot by gym goers) is the practice of eating carbs on training days while not eating carbs on rest days. I would recommend a FB split or a U/L split for this since its high frequency which means more rest days. For the carbs you can have I’d recommend complex carbs like fruits oats potatoes and rice.

Carnivore
I’m not a fan of carnivore since you will be vitamin deficient but it’s simple asf, Eat meat only.

Low-no carbs daily
I did this method for 3 days didn’t enjoy it that much but it basically means you can have other stuff than meat as long at you are <50 carbs

I lean towards the idea that humans might be able to function without carbs, but the damage we've got from modern conditions (malnutrition, toxins, lifestyle, etc) for 14 to 30+ years (which I assume is the age range on this forum) makes it difficult to thrive without them. So, to me, it makes sense to increase carb intake when needed, but not to necessarily overdo it.

carbs like potatoes rice and fruit are still good and when I was carb cycling thats all id eat on my carb days

Yeah, those are also the ones Sol Brah goes for, but in my case I prioritize fruits and honey since I'm drawn to a raw diet
