It's not feminism in my opinion,it's just that america has always been a nation of Brutes.Look at it's history and original values(Brutal enslavement of africans,genocide of amerindians)and it's puritan obsession with material wealth as a 'blessing' and ultimate sign of favor from 'God'.
I know this may be a controversial opinion-but I don't think a woman's drive for independance or her level of sexual activity makes her a bad person or partner-Similarly,religious people can be and usually are some of the most kindless and hypocritical people and very draconian at that,obsessed with their image and very judgemental.They usually are very holier than thou.

I went to portugal and Remember how kind,friendly and truly good the people were-it's no surprise that portuguese people are very happy despite being poor and take relationships with friends,family and their partners very seriousely and in high regard.
