Who knows if the "naive research assistant" unknowingly gave a certain race an advantage when selecting those pictures. This is not like they were judging perfectly front facing pictures all taken with the same exact lightening and same camera.
2. Then those pictures were judged by a small number of British participants. Lewis (2010) uses 20 participants of unspecified gender, Lewis (2011) uses 10 females and 8 males who are all white British, and Lewis (2012) is a little better but still not that good, uses 40 undergraduates, 15 white males, 2 black males, 3 Asian males, 14 white females, 3 black females, and 3 Asian females.

Another thing I will criticize is the theory they use to explain their results.
Lewis talks about sexual dimorphism while focusing on skin color, but there are MANY other features that contribute to male sexual dimorphism other than skin color, some of which are more common among men of other races.
I find it lazy for those researchers to focus so much on skin color and use it as an easy explanation for their theory that black men are seen as more attractive. The argument is basically "darker skin is a male sexual dimorphism. Blacks are darker. So blacks are the most attractive".
what about "hairyness is a male sexual dimorphism. Meds are hairy. Therefore meds are the most attractive" or "prominent frontal bones are a male sexual dimorphism. Abos tend to have prominent frontal bones. Therefore Abos are the most attractive"
