all of this is being done in an attempt to portray him as a madman who is out of control to give the rest of US politicians plausible deniability for future neoconservative bullshit.
this is why they are pivoting to "he will use nuclear launch codes before he leaves office". they will start a war with iran before he leaves office and they will be able to say "well, gee shucks it's too bad this happened. we tried to stop him, we really did, but the madman just nuked them anyway. oh well, guess we can't go back now".
