Good sleep= good mood= happiness.
When you're in a good mood, you process life through a positive filter, and everything that happens to you is interpreted as optimistically as possible.
But when you're in a shitty mood, you're tired and irritable and everything annoys you. You constantly complain and lash out at everyone. Nothing can seem to make you happy. Objectively positive events get interpreted as negative.
