I just asked A.I. the following:
I can't ejaculate when I'm on Lexapro. How the fuck can ANY man tolerate this horrible side effect?? How?????? It makes the medication effectively useless.
.... and I got this ridiculous answer (red text is mine):
Lexapro and other SSRI antidepressants can cause sexual side effects, including delayed or absent ejaculation, which can be highly distressing and frustrating
. This is a common experience, and your frustration is understandable. It does not make the medication useless (yes, it fucking does!!!!!), but it does make it less tolerable and may reduce adherence to the treatment plan (It won't "reduce" adherence to the treatment plan, it'll eliminate it!!). However, there are several effective strategies that many people use to manage or resolve these side effects.
Common strategies to address Lexapro-induced sexual side effects
1. Adjust the dosage or timing
I've never taken an antidepressant that fixes my depression and anxiety while leaving everything else alone. No, I have to pay a price that's even worse than the anxiety and depression itself. Fucking ridiculous, man. Whoever invented these drugs is either a scammer or a moron. What man in his right mind who's under 80 years old would trade having less depression for not being able to get off? EVER. I'd like to meet him.

Common strategies to address Lexapro-induced sexual side effects
1. Adjust the dosage or timing
- Lower the dose: For some, a lower dose of Lexapro may be enough to continue treating their anxiety or depression while reducing the severity of sexual side effects. Any dosage change should only be made under a doctor's supervision. Reducing the dosage may reduce the side effects (but not eliminate them) but it also reduces the drug's effectiveness. So that's a stupid suggestion. Next!
- Change the timing: If you experience sexual side effects shortly after taking your medication, your doctor may suggest adjusting your schedule. Taking Lexapro at a different time of day could allow you to have sex when the drug's levels in your body are lowest. Again, if the drug level in the blood is low, the benefits of the drug are also low. So this suggestion is just as stupid and worthless as the last one.
- Consider a "drug holiday": In some cases, a doctor may approve a planned, temporary break from the medication. This can be effective for drugs with a relatively short half-life, but it is not safe for everyone. You must consult your doctor before attempting this, as stopping abruptly can cause withdrawal symptoms or a relapse of your condition. Brilliant idea! Taking a "drug holiday" will allow me to ejaculate again while I'm off the drug (which means no benefits from the drug either), but as soon as I'm back on it, I'll become a eunuch again. Yay! Why didn't I think of this?
