What? Lmao. Who told you that? Oil isn’t needed to cross membranes. As long as it’s in ethanol and stays dissolved, it will absorb well. The problem is that’s unlikely with straight ethanol, so we use oils instead because it keeps it soluble after ethanol dilutes in GI fluids (ignoring all packaging, sealing, etc. issues). That’s it.

Ethanol has the highest solubility of known substances for dutasteride theoretically.

DCM is toxic and for lab work, but point taken. Sparingly soluble is how us lab geeks refer to like 1 part per 30-100 parts solvent, so it’s a slight underestimate of ethanol, but a rough ballpark. It’s got multiples better solubility than MCT. The only reason we use oils is because of the GI (and issues with the seam if sold as a soft-gel).
