Society kinda used to be setup this way, but with the advent of Feminism we starting removing the incentives women used to get for marrying average men

For example, women couldn't work jobs at equal wages to men. They had no welfare system, so couldn't live off the government. These two things were key as it meant women had to marry average men so they could survive. But now, they can be picky. "I want 6ft rich chad"

And back then, once women got married, they had to stay married or they would get nothing. Courts back then weren't ordering men to give half of their wealth to women and and divorced women were frowned upon back then.

So many average men who simply had a job got to pass on their genes back then because women were desperate. But in the last 50-75 years, Feminism has made shit veteran mode. It's still business as usual in places like Somalia though. Women have 5 kids on average over their lifetime and they depend on men to be providers. And men over there get 18 year old virgins for marriage, while we get used up 28 year old roasties who barely have kids and barely want to be mothers
