Our medical system is so fucked an appointment with any doctor takes several months to happen, at least where I live

I started the process to get surgery on my eyes in September, and I’m not even having my first consultation until May.

Keep in mind I’ll need multiple more consultations after, and I don’t even know 100% if I’m a candidate yet, so Ive just spent 8 months ldaring waiting to fix my eyes so I can maybe start living my life

The suspense and watching your time slip away is brutally taxing on the psyche

Good thread, I'm furious at myself for not starting all of this sooner. Finally had my first rhinoplasty consultation last month, was gonna book it but called another clinic just out of curiosity and they said their prices are $8-$10k cheaper than what the first place quoted me. Obviously I want that savings but they can't get me in for a consultation for another month and then 2-3 month wait for surgery.

Jaw surgery is this huge mess of dates and waiting, same thing with waiting for another consultation. I need $3000 of dental work before I start braces and I might need to switch jobs for different dental insurance to cover some of that. But I can't do that yet because of all this other shit in my life.

I had plans to put myself out there this year but I don't wanna do it until at least my nose is fixed. I at least need that burden off of me. It's looking like yet another summer of being facially flawed, self conscious, borderline invisible, and extremely isolated, if I wasn't blessed with neotenous genetics I could not continue.

Yes it’s truly awful especially when you’re oldcel like me and you KNOW you don’t have time for this, I’ve been in braces now for 16 months and it’s likely to end up being over two years now plus the wait time for jaw surgery and the recovery time.

And of course because I’m in braces my SMV is nuked to zero regardless of anything else so this entire time can only be spent as an incel.
