It wasnt just nutrition. For example if you feed a mumbai slum dweller well he still wouldn't reach a normal height.
It's a mix of genes and nutrition. In poorer countries where food is scarce, people with low appetite( genetic) survive while the chads with huge appetite die cause there isnt enough food.
Poverty favors low appetite genetics. Low appetite= less nutrition= short height.
But as the country develops, people with high appetite genes survive more and more resulting in height increase.
My point is that you cant reverse hundreds of years of evolution in just one generation. So if a poor country suddenly develops then they still wouldnt have a huge height increase. It will always be gradual
