Welfare/disability = £1000 per month (not including rent which is paid for aswell)
£50k salary = £3100 after student loans, N.I, pension and of-course tax. Rent = 900 or mortgage = 700-800 so 3100 - 800 = 2300 (this number will vary depending on where you live, a 2 bed to rent here costs £900 in the north where i live).
Bills will have to be paid for by wagies and people on benefits so not included.
Difference is 1300, give or take a hundred or two)
Note: i did not include max rate disability which would be an additional £400 from what i recall (LWRCA) so the £1000 would be £1400 so the difference will amount to £1000, possibly even less actually.
So you are working 40 hours a week minimum to make £1000 more than someone not doing anything. Is it worth it? Now imagine how i feel when i realise most of the population is making around 30k/yr and then imagine the figures listed above for a 50k salary and how the 30k figure would fare against someone on full disability. I know people IRL who are defrauding the benefit system hard. Person A has a mortgage > "rents" to someone (external family member not listed legally as family) > they get housing benefit/etc > mortgage is paid for or mostly paid for by benefits. Easy work while the entire family of 8 are on all kinds of benefits and working under the table for cash in hand lol. I am insulted and called lazy/etc often but i just don't see the point in slaving away 40 hours a week working retail or a warehouse job while not even making more money than i currently am doing absolutely nothing. But now some of these single mothers have found a loophole. Disability. They claim they have multiple kids with disabilities. It's not uncommon to see a single mother with 3 kids, all have autism, and she apparently suffers from depression/anxiety but somehow she is able to be a carer for all 3 of them.

So, she's getting UC, PIP, DLA for each kid, Child Benefits for each, Carer's Allowance, the works. It's not common for families like this to pull in £100k/year

Single mother epidemic in the UK? have we become america and where are the fathers going? i knew a family like this with 7 kids and most of them were classed as disabled even though only 1 was clearly disabled.
I won't say publically how i'm claiming for obvious reasons but i am pretty sure i will be granted LWRCA, all falling into place. They've gotten a lot stricter on benefits in recent years but abuse is still rampant.
