Somewhere in China, there’s a teenage boy named Zhang Wei who also feels unattractive and undeserving of love. He stares at the mirror every night, trying to find something redeemable in his reflection, and finds nothing but a face that society decided has no value.

He just wants to be seen as enough. By his family, by girls, by other guys, by society. not exceptional, not perfect, just enough.

But sadly, Zhang knows that in this world, being “enough” isn’t enough.

He scrolls past couples, influencers, and pretty people who never had to earn validation. Maybe he listens to the same music as you do, plays the same games, copes in the same ways you do, by distracting himself with porn and video games and scrolling.

Maybe he's even on the Chinese equivalent of this forum, trying desperately to looksmax his way out of invisibility so he can live the life he's seen others live, and has dearly yearned for himself.

He doesn’t know your name, and you’ll never meet him. Even if you did, the two of you wouldn't be able to communicate. But even across the world, you’re living parallel lives.
Both two ghosts fighting to finally be seen

Sayuri Matsumura! She's a singer and actress
I listen to loads of j-pop (and k-pop lol) so I'll look her up on Spotify. Also, the woman in your profile picture is Korean, right? Who is she?

Nah she's also Japanese. The girl in my
Avi is Yurika Nakamura, she's also a singer and actress lol.

Sayuri doesn't have solo music tho, she was part of a famous girl group called "Nogizaka46"

Yurika does make solo music and her Spotify handle is just "NAKAMURA YURIKA"

Also holy W taste. I also listen to a lot of kpop and jpop. You should try j metal aswell if you haven't already

Wow!! She looks very Korean. Anyway, about Sayuri, I have heard of Nogizaka46. I generally don't listen to those large-group artists because they always rotate through their members and individual voices generally don't stand out (as in, too many voices so you can't easily remember who is who). I will search for Yurika's music, thanks. And mirin hard bhaijaan, it's hard to find guys who are into this type of music. What are your favorite j-pop and k-pop artists (aside from the ones you mentioned)? And even though I said, "j-pop," I included j-rock in there. Don't listen to j-metal too much, I'm into metal of course but I just haven't tried j-metal except for BABYMETAL. Any recommendations?

Yeah I've never met a dude into jpop or kpop irl, and so I have to hide my fondness of them from my friends or else I'll be clowned :feelswhy:
My sister likes Yurika's music a lot, but personally I think it sounds rather bland and generic but it's still worth giving it a try.

My favourite kpop artists are probably girls generation, LE SSERAFIM, and Jung Kook.
As for jpop, I like Iris, aswell as Nogizaka46 like I mentioned.

Jmetal is by far my favourite compared to the others however, and I highly recommend you try listening to passcode. I tried getting in to babymetal but it wasn't for me tbh. Passcode on the other hand I've fallen in love with, as they are seriously talented. I can give you some song recommendations if you'd like

I know the pains of having to hide your music interest IRL, especially as a brown guy hahaha. Is your sibling into k-pop as well? Usually when brown girls are into East Asian music, it's usually k-pop and not j-pop. In any case, I'll give Yurika a try but I need to charge my wireless earbuds so I'm going to watch some Kimetsu no Yaiba (I hope I spelled that right).

I know all the artists you mentioned, but I've only listened to Jungkook. I'm more of a Jimin guy myself. Never heard of Iris though. Any male j-pop artists in particular that you like?

Try listening to the song BABYMETAL did with Bring Me The Horizon. I can understand BABYMETAL is not your thing, it wasn't mine either I liked their collab with BMTH and they grew on me. I'll look into Passcode as well. Have you heard of Coldrain or Crystal Lake? I want to get into Crystal Lake because it's obvious they were inspired by Friday the 13th, I really enjoyed that franchise as a teen. Coldrain is j-rock though but they incorporate unclean vocals in their songs as well sometimes, so I guess they're j-post-hardcore.

By the way, I've been to k-pop shows before. And I've been to metalcore shows as well. Often, I'm the only brown guy there. Have you been to any?

Nah my sister isn't really a kpop fan surprisingly 😭 she unironically likes listening to "looksmaxxing music" and the songs that are used in blackpill edits on TikTok.

I'm going to be honest, I don't really mess with male singers in general tbh, except for the Weeknd. So I can't really speak on which male jpop singers I like as I've never listened to any. I would love to give them a try if you have any recommendations though.

I'll give the babymetal song a try, Im trying to expand my taste in jmetal anyways. I've not heard of either Coldrain or Crystal Lake, but they both sound interesting ngl.

Which k pop and metal shows have you been to? I've never been to any of those concerts, since none of the artists I like come to the city where I live.

Also please correct me if I'm wrong, but you're Pakistani right? I'm just curious since I was born in Karachi 😭 If you do live in Pakistan, do you travel internationally in order to go to the shows, or do they come to Pakistan ?

I recommend these passcode songs to start with: bite the bullet, miss unlimited, axis, horoscope, and dream maker

The second to last one is more rock, and the last one is very kawaii core

That really is surprising. I've known Pakistani girls who were into k-pop specifically but not j-pop, and your sister is the opposite haha. Heck, I've even seen Afghan girls who were into k-pop lol, despite wearing hijab and all that.

Interesting, I mainly listen to male vocalists but I also listen to a bunch of female vocalists. Yeah, I've got a recommendation but the name is in Japanese, but since it's R&B, you may like it. I'll send you a Spotify link through PMs.

Let me know what you think of the BABYMETALxBMTH collab. It's called Kingslayer. Let me know what you think of Coldrain and Crystal Lake.

As for which shows I've been to, I'll PM you about it as well. Haha speaking of k-pop artists going to South Asia, some are actually going to a festival in Mumbai. Brootal, they prefer going to Mumbai but would never visit Karachi.

Yes, I'm Pakistani but I was born and raised in The Netherlands. I've been to European countries other than my own to attend these shows.

And okay, thanks for the recommendations. I'll PM you now.

Alright I'll wait for PM 🙏 also ain't no way they'd rather go to Mumbai than Karachi 😭

Have you visited Pakistan at all? I was born in Karachi, but lived in Saudi Arabia for a few years and then moved to Canada when I was 2 and a half years old. I've been back to Pakistan twice since, and sadly it was in even worse state the second time I went

They probably think Pakistan is unsafe or whatever, can't blame them with all the terror attacks and whatnot but I digress.. haha. Yeah, I've been to Pakistan, I was there last year. The country, unfortunately, is a shithole. I love the idea of Pakistan, but I don't love the people.
