It's somewhat necessary for any country or civilization to function

The "love" one has for your country makes one feel good about making "personal sacrifices" and shit ... it's not just about dying in some dumb ass war or letting the taxman fuck you right in the anus, it's accepting substandard quality of life and letting those who rule sell you out to robberbarrons , that sort of thing

But here's the thing, we kinda benefit from this too

Being "blindly patriotic" provides a sense of tribalism...The infighting and backstabbing amongst countrymen is greatly reduced ... Imagine an individualistic world where every human being just does their own thing and fights/sues his fellow man every day
