Remote work gives the middle class too much power. One of the main benefits of being the super rich is that you are not tied to a single location. Why do you think the forbidden philosopher made a big deal about the financiers being an "International Clique". It means they can escape the consequences of whatever they do. They have no vested interest in the on-the-ground conditions of any single place and so don't care. The world is their playground and they stand above it, managing workers and capital, keeping them in their place. Modern workers are not much different from feudal serfs because they are tied to the land by their job. You can't just move. But people feel free because legally they can move. So that means they're free, right? Nice psychological trick the elite pulled there.
