I’m getting on accutane 40~mg within a month (getting through dermatologist not India mart)

I’ve always had super thin hair and low hair density, so I never considered DHT blockers, but now I’m getting on accutane, I’m concerned on the fact I could thin even more, as my hair is already disgustingly thin

Help me escape sub 3 hell

16m 65kg 6ft

consider it bro. im 19 and was norwood 3 vertex 6 months ago and have recovered 60-70% of my thickness. started thinning at 16 js like you. back to a 1 again in only 6 months. oral minoxidil and finasteride will save you. try to thug it out until you’re 17-18 but if you can’t pull the trigger dude, or get ready for a flight to turkey if you wanna max ur bones out w dht lol.

I've been on 20mg for about a year and about 3 months in, my hair started shedding a lot. Fortunately, it was only temporary (2 months) and it went back to normal. My hair texture did change though from straight to slightly wavy, and I think the shedding was to transition to the new hair type. (I'm hoping my hair goes back to straight tho 🙏). I would highly advise getting on dht blockers at your age because it is necessary to have high dht levels during puberty.

bro im in the exact same boat. i got slight shedding and scalp irritation/itching 2 months AFTER i stopped accutane. my derm prescribed me ketoconazole shampoo. should i do something else? i still got perfect hair line and theres no visible balding spots. other dht blockers?

Sorry, late reply. I'd wait maybe 4 or so months before considering minoxidil and fin/dut. Accutane causes telogen effluvium, where hairs get pushed into the resting phase. This is what happened to me where it happened after I got on accutane but in your case, it happened after u got off it. The shedding is temporary and improves after a few months. The dry/irritated scalp is common since accutane not only dries out the oil glands on your face, but also your scalp, causing it to feel thinner (like mine did). Even though you've been off the medication for 2+ months, your scalp barrier is still recovering and getting back to normal oil production levels.
