whenever i listen to bedingfields unwritten, especially the choral rise in block chords towards the end before the final refrain, i imagine myself running my hands through my blonde hair on a beach in 2006, private beach area afforded by my cape cod condo we would often venture to from our home in newport ri. the camera zooms out and I become somewhat blurry, blending with the sea. there is only the sounds of crickets and the waves. nieman marcus. gabardine silk shirts and tailored high waisted pants. They rub my skin like the hair of my blonde wife. waking up together and we go to downtown newport for dinner. We have a lobster roll and glare at passerbys. But maybe its not a glare. I pull out to pay the waiter, but in my pocket is not money but sunshine. And im back on the beach. I am running my hands through my blonde hair. The recession is about to hit. the markets are crashing. i pay the waiter his $20.07
