I'll explain in laymans terms. You pass a online test which they let you take. they see your resume. They give you 2 insanely hard assignments in AI. Complete it and you get shortlisted and you will be flown to their office in San Francisco California for an interview with the CTO. If you pass that you will be getting paid close to half a million dollars

Too much competition, hours, requirements, and so on these days.

Work isn't life and you only need enough money for tasty food and a place to live.

Relationships shouldn't rely on money but looks and vibe or you're just waiting to get cooked.

No not PhD. PhD and masters roles is required for AI/ML scientists not applied AI Engineer roles like the ones in OP

Thing is if you can get a job like that you won’t want to retire because it’s cushy and high status and extremely well paid, you won’t want to kill yourself every day like you would doing something equally as skilled and technical (just not FOTM) on a £40k salary.

The catch-22 of early retirement is only those people with shit compensation and low status jobs want to do it, but cannot due to their lack of means.

Sure. But these roles aren't easy cushy jobs that you think they are. You actually do need to be very high iq for day to day tasks in these roles. Just think about it. Why would a company be ready to pay someone this much if their job was easy and replaceable ?
