Recessed chins are better for survival. If someone gets someone with a pronounced jaw/chin in a headlock then they're screwed and stuck there, if you have a recessed chin it makes it harder to grip for the aggressor, making it easier to escape. It's easier to punch someone in the face if their jaw has more projection, recessed chins can avoid punches with relative ease.
It's only a matter of Time before foids see recessed chins as a more attractive feature.
