You may have heard it said - business is a zero sum game. Well it is. If you believe otherwise, you're a retard living in a rainbow wonderland. When it comes to work, here's what you do: the bare minimum. I know because I've done both. And my life has been astronomically less stressful, more relaxing, and better overall by not putting effort into my job. See when you are working hard at something, other people see you as a tool to be used. Not an actual human being. I learned that the more I worked, the more work was required of me. And I was gaining less and less respect from people for working more than other people. It was seen as weakness. Now I've been doing the opposite, and its been a much better deal. DO NOT GO ABOVE AND BEYOND.

Ironically this. All these self help fags like gary v, david goggins, tony Robinson will tell the plebs to work hard or else they wont achieve their goal. Yeah the boss wont. You will never. Hard work is a fucking meme.

This was common knowledge back in the communist era, since everyone was paid pretty much the same no matter what job they did, and it was very hard to get fired, everyone did just the bare minimum, there was even a saying: "They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work.".

This is the problem with hourly wages. Doing more work than necessary just brings about more work. Unless you're working for yourself then there's no point. Climbing the corporate ladder is a fool's errand. You're better off leeching until you feel the need for a change in scenery.

Sales is for Chads due to the IRL hailo effect. Most people can't make any kind of significant amount of money doing that. I think if you want to make money as a normal person, you must start your own thing - or just work in a high paying industry then use the money made from it to live off of for the rest of your life.

Excellent advice, but only holds in large, established orgs, with headcounts so high it is impossible too attribute value to anyone.

I work for a huge company, worked my ass of cos I was promised an MD title, got rug pulled cos people thought I went crazy due to a HYPERGAMOUS bitch telling me I was bottom 2% of men lookswise, since then I just work the bare minimum, hardly do any work, never use my brain, never fix things, and I get more love now lol

What I would do is start a business at work, preferably an online one so you can pretend to work while other people are wasting their life away. What I do is surveys for money on the internet while I "work" then Im making like 100 dollars an hour.

That would not be worth the aggro for me (my salary is reasonably ok), I did start a side business, a couple of gyms, but I started it in Jan 2020, so u can imagine how that worked out...

But if you do that, you'll be living in the top echelon of society in like 2 years. And won't have to deal with retards in your neighborhood.

Do surveys really make 100 bucks an hour????

No. but if you combine the money you make doing them with your yearly salary, it adds up to that.

Ah ok.

For me to want to do some side shit on my laptop while I'm 'working' it would need to pay me minimum 100 bucks an hour, else it's not worth my time

Especially true at large 5000+ employee corporations which are the only ones you want to work at anyway generally

LOL. Well. Suit yourself.

Yes, but its a catch 22. There is no such thing as a free lunch. In your free time, you should be doing SOMETHING constructive to offset the time being wasted. You don't want to go to work and watch porn for 8 hours a day either. Theres a balance to it. Like right now, I'm working on my closing paper work to buy my house at work instead of "working".

What if you want a raise or a good recommendation from your boss

People like you are the reason why I actually hate working with large companies. Their employees are so slow its fucking annoying. This thread pretty much confirms what me and business partner already knew. But I cant blame you guys, I would probably do the same in your position.

In a corporate job, you don't get a raise. The people who do are lying or just rare outliers.

Don't work hard for anyone but yourself

Working for large corporations is a joke. Small to medium sized companies you can make a real impact and get real raises not that 3-5% a year bullshit

I make 40% more than I did 1.5 years ago and that’s my base salary. I’m in sales

That is very generalist thinking. Some firms reward hard work and yeah they may not be that common but there is.
Additionally lying and telling that you are working full time for some firm but in fact you are messing around is not ethical.
Either start your own firm or work as a freelance for couple firms. Some companies are friendly to part-time and freelance gigs as long as it can be done online.

Totally agree. If you are wageslaving do as little as possible for your money.

Yeah. I don't really like working for someone else tbh. Too much lack of control.

It's not shame to work for someone as long as you are maintaining your diginity and is being respected. Not everyone can afford opening their own business. You can have some control of how you work by working freelance for multiple clients.

You don’t want to work too hard, especially in the corporate world. Because then the people above you become worried that you’ll pass them or replace them. So they do what they can to fuck you over. No point in risking your job over trying to work hard to get meagre raises.

Better to do the minimum at your current job then bounce to a different one after about two years.

interesting, what field was this in?

Depends how much value you produce for the company and how replaceable you are.

Also, corporate is notorious for office politics. You need to do diplomacy and form alliances with the right people.
